During labour, the wellbeing of the foetus needs to be monitored regularly or even continuously to ensure it is not under undue stress and is still gaining enough oxygen. The Sensewell is designed to assist medical practitioners in determining the wellbeing of a foetus during the late stages of labour and thus allowing them to rapidly decide whether a caesarean is necessary. In contrast to existing technology it is non-invasive, least intrusive and easy to use.
